  Do You Enjoy Travelling?

  I sure do! In a year I try my best to take up to 4 vacations at least, now taking a vacation can mean different things for many different people for example; Going out of the country for weeks or even months but for me it just means getting away from home just for a bit even if I’m up north which is an hour away I’d still consider that as my vacation.

  This summer I was working two jobs; I worked at a Fido store and at Montreal’s theme park La Ronde I had such a busy summer  I had no time to say “ I’m bored”  because I was literally working everyday of the week, no doubt I saved up good amount of money but what’s  the fun if you don’t have time to spend it? And  I had completely killed my social life because I had no time to spend with my friends. It can be very hard to get days off when you’re working at two different places and especially when you’re working 7 days a week , so I had no choice but to quit my La Ronde job and beg my Fido manager to give me few days off so I can go on vacation before school starts.

  I know it is expensive to travel by air but that’s the only way I like to travel because it’s the fastest way to get to your destination. If you’re traveling somewhere far going by car, bus or train can be very hectic, tiring and annoying so i dont like doing that at all. I do most of my booking online which I do believe is the best and cheapest way, as soon as my manager gave me permission I booked my airline ticket with delta online  to fly to Atlanta, Georgia.  My sister and brother in law live in Atlanta so whenever I go there I don’t need to spend money on hotels, I just stay in their luxurious condo very close to downtown. That’s why  taking a trip to Atlanta can be very cheap for me because all I have to pay for is the shopping and the airline ticket( which can be sound at acheap price online) and not have any other expenses such as food or hotel.

Cultural Relativism

A cultural relativist does not believe that their respective culture and beliefs is the right way to approach life. I am a cultural relativist, because I believe in diversity. Thus I will be talking about cultural Relativism in this blog.

I’m half Hindu and half Sikh because different cultures other than just Hinduism and Sikhism. I understand the fact that we all are very different from each other in many different ways and that is the reason I respect and understand that we all have our own different beliefs. I would like to use the example of body art to show how we all have our ways of showing the world we are different.

Over 7 million Americans now days have tattoos and they say they get it so they can stand out and some people also consider it as a commitment. People in Burma think long necks are attractive so they wear coils to make their necks longer and in Africa they use body art to represent manliness.

This hows how we all have different ways of using body art, and I don’t think any of these people are wrong for being the way they are because I don’t have the right to judge anyone, just the way no one has the right to judge me for being who I am.

9/11

September 11,2001,

What comes to your mind when you hear 9/11? Is it just a number for you?

Well  I’m not sure about everybody but for me it isn’t just a number, and I’m sure what comes in my mind is what comes in a lot of other peoples mind when they hear  “9-11” and that one thing is the twin towers, the two buildings collapsing, people jumping out of the hugemongous  building  thinking that might be the only way to survive. Almost 3,000 of innocent people lost their lives  due to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in New York City that day. 

Today is the Eighth Anniversary of  9-11, I still can’t believe it’s been 8 years since that terrifying event happened but till today when I think about it I feel terrible and it brings my mood down. I was only 10 years old that time and I still remember exactly what had happened that day, I found out about it in school and that time when my teacher said “”some idiot just flew a plane into one of the trade center towers” me and my class mates found it funny but that time we were very young and naïve to understand that there are thousands of people in that building, but when I got home and watched the news with my family it gave me a better understanding of what had happened. I consider myself very lucky that I did not lose a friend or family member that day. 

R.I.P to all those who lost their lives on this day 8 years back.  My sympathy goes out to all those who have lost loved ones that day.

My First Post (neighbourhood)

Do you like your neighbourhood?

When I first found out I was going to move into a new neighbourhood, which was 8 years back, I was extremly upset because I thought I would never be able to make new friends, However, I was wrong because I now know a lot of people in my neighbourhood, and I have made a lot of new friends.

 

I love my neighbourhood because it’s not a typical quiet neighbourhood, where no one talks to anyone and everyone just minds their own business, It’s actually one of those areas where there are always kids playing on the streetand making noise. I would not prefer living in a quiet neighbourhood because it can make life extremely boring, and at some point you can feel lonely.

When a friend or a family member visits our neighbourhood for the first time they don’t seem to have a good impression, because my neighbourhood is not considered to be a good and rich area. Thus many people think it’s very unsafe where I live but I don’t think it’s true, because we should never judge a book by its cover so unless you live in my neighbourhood you wouldnt know if it’s safe or not.
