Food is something that can be eaten by an animal or us humans, for nutrition or pleasure. Human beings can only survive up to four to eight weeks without food, that’s why food is a very important part in our lives and we can’t live without it.
There are many different types of food around the world. The way a meal is prepared and the types of ingredients that are adding to it, come from different cultures and country. The reason i chose to discuss about food in my blog this week is because many classmates of mine decided to do their english oral presentation on food. From all those presentations i got the chance to learn more about what they eat. What i do find interest is that in some cases we all use the same ingredients but we can prepare different dishes with it.
My mother is from India and that is why most of the times she cooks indian food. Indian food can be very spicy since its made with all kinds off spices. Indian food has a large amount of dishes that are vegetarian, because india has a huge amount of population that does not eat any kind of meat. I love indian food not because i have been eating it all my life, i love it because it’s just so good.

One of my friends is Indian, and one day she invited me to an Indian restaurant. It was actually a buffet, so we could eat whatever we wanted. I was so hungry, so I took a lot of rice, some chicken, meat and other stuff. By the way, I did not know that the food was so spicy. When I started eating, after a while I almost had tears in my eyes! I was telling her that is very spicy, how she can eat that? She told me that is not spicy a lot.She also told me that Indian food has a lot of spices.
Even if it was spicy, I really liked it.

Nice blog!! You made a great point! Food is essential and a very prominent component in our daily lives. I love food and I am constantly thinking about food! The only problem is that I am a bit picky when it comes to deciding what types of food to eat. I usually always choose the same types of food and rarely eat meals prominent in other cultures. THis being said, from now on I will try all different kinds of food from various cultures!

Food is great!I’m always willing to try new foods just because it is amazing to be able to experience a part of culture through their food. The best part is that although ingredients might be similar from culture to culture, there is no universal meal that is found in every culture. Great Blog!

I understand what your saying because I, as an italian, mostly eat what people say is italian food, but not because I am italian but simply because it’s good. If I go to a restaurant I will still, from my own will order something italian if it is available. This is a great blog, and I believe food from every culture is extremely good. I’m not saying that I like everything, but some food from every culture is good.

When I was traveling in Indonesia, I spent Christmas at a guest house run by an Indian man (he had married an Indonesian woman and moved there.) His nephew and his new wife were staying at the guest house as well, and we all had Christmas dinner together. The nephew’s wife offered me a taste of the chili paste they’d brought with them to put on all their food. After I tasted it, I spent the rest of the meal coughing and spluttering, with tears down my face, and she spent the rest of the meal passing me pieces of banana and spoonfuls of yogourt to try to cool my poor tongue! And yet they put spoonfuls of that paste on everything; it was amazing to me.
